Shoot Locations

I have a handful of places that I love to take family photographs that are amazing at golden hour. That doesn't mean that we can't go to YOUR favourite place - I am more than happy to have suggestions. Here are a few images of my favourite places and why I love them.

Castle Hill Heritage Park

Why I like it so much:

  • The look: evergreen, tall trees and grass

  • A lesser known park so generally pretty quiet

  • Lots of space for the kids to run around (where parents can still see them)

  • Ideal for Extended Family Sessions

  • Playground for afterwards

Lake Parramatta Reserve

Why I like it so much:

  • The look: Tall trees, textured rocks and water (ideal for shoots with older kids)

  • Small area of long grass for different shots

  • Classic Australian bush setting

Rouse Hill Regional Park

Why I like it so much:

  • The look: Backdrops of both long grass and tall trees

  • Logs for the kids to climb on

  • Lots of space for kids to run without worrying about cars

  • Ease of parking

  • Please note: Weekends are very busy here so it’s best to choose a weeknight session if you would like your photos taken here.

Macquarie Park, Windsor

Why I like it so much:

  • The Look: River with sandbank, some higher grasses and tall trees

  • Great spot for 'beach' shots without needing to leave the Hills District

  • You can go for a swim if you like or dip your feet in

  • Generally a pretty quiet area

  • Not far from the carpark

Balmoral Beach, Mosman

Why I like it so much:

  • One of Sydney's most iconic beaches

  • Beautiful sandstone walls to add to the beach shots

  • Kids always end up in the water and plenty of space for kids to run around

  • Easy to find and usually plenty of parking at sunset

  • Best to use for mid-week sessions

Maroubra Beach

Why I like it so much:

  • The Look: Beach + area of green dunes and trees

  • Great backlit shots that are hard to get at other beaches (ie no buildings in the way)

  • You can go for a swim if you like or dip your feet in

  • Generally a pretty quiet area

  • Lots of space for kids to run

  • Not far from the carpark

Baulkham Hills

Why I like it so much:

  • The Look: Aussie bush and gumtrees

  • Very safe for kids to run around

  • Close to home

  • Hardly anyone around

  • Close to the car

Why I like it so much:

  • The Look: Beach + huge rock face area

  • You can go for a swim if you like or dip your feet in

  • Lots of space for kids to run and climb on the rocks

  • At low tide, we can access the swimming pool area

  • Easy access from the carpark
